Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States, Hillary Clinton, arrived in Russia Thursday for talks on disarmament and meets with Quartet Middle East International.

Hillary arrived at the Moscow airport at 04:30 GMT. There, he will meet with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, to discuss bilateral issues, which are expected to focus on efforts to agree on a new disarmament treaty the U.S. and Russia.

Regarding the Middle East Quartet meeting, a spokesman for the U.S. State Department said the Quartet will show international support for indirect negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians. “The quartet meeting had a great opportunity to show international support for efforts to promote indirect negotiations and to revive the peace process movement,” said spokesman Philip Crowley, Wednesday.

Previously, the Palestinians called for a halt to peace talks was not immediately, after Israel announced the construction of 1600 new homes for Jewish settlers in Arab areas of East Jerusalem during the visit the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, to the region. The announcement triggered the development of settlements in the worst crisis of US-Israeli relations over the last couple of years.
